The Towns of Chickasaw County
New
Hampton is the County Seat and largest town
in the county. There are three schools in the city
of New Hampton,
the elementary and Jr. High in one building, the high
school and St. Joe’s Catholic School. The towns
of Ionia, Alta Vista and North Washington are included
in the school district. New Hampton has the only hospital
in the county, Mercy Medical Center. Many fine businesses
are located in New Hampton as well as several factories
that sell their products all over the world.
Fredericksburg has an elementary school and shares the
high school with another town just outside of Chickasaw
County.
Nashua is famous for
the weddings that take place in the Little Brown Church
in the Vale, as well as the Old
Bradford Pioneer Village Museum, and the beautiful Cedar
Lake which has great fishing along with boating and
swimming. Fun for all ages.
Bassett, on the western
edge of the county also send their students outside the
county for schooling.
Lawler,
on the northeastern edge of the county is too small
for a school. Their students go to a neighboring county
for
school as well.
The people of Chickasaw County are very friendly and
caring, willing to help out a stranger in need. Churches
of are in abundance in Chickasaw County for nearly every
Christian religion.
