The Chickasaw County Tourism Council met
for its regular monthly meeting at the Carnegie Cultural
Center on Thursday, November 16.
The meeting was brought
to order by President Jeaneen Lindeland at 7:10. The
minutes from the October meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer's
report was given by Secretary Karen Wilson in the absence
of the Treasurer, and approved.
There was discussion
of renting a Main Street building in Nashua to store
Tourism Council supplies, and would be available for
Director meetings.
Sue Schueth made the motion to rent the building
with a second by Richard Armbrecht. The motion passed unanimously.
It was decided to have seven 16 X 20s
made of various pictures from the Bradford Museum to be
used for
display in Des
Moines for Legislative Night in February. These
will be made at Copyworks in Cedar Falls.
Sue Bussey reminded
members of the soup supper in Nashua on Saturday, December
9 at the Nashua
Community
Center.
This is a fundraiser for the pending Welcome
Center. The supper is from 4:30 to 7:00 PM. Tickets are
$4.00 in advance
and $5.00 at the door.
The defeated Hotel/Motel
tax was discussed. The idea of a County Tour was discussed.
A motion to adjourn was made by LaVonne
Snider and seconded by Richard Armbrecht. The meeting
adjourned
at 8:30 PM.
Members were reminded of the
annual Christmas Party at the Gathering Room at the Engelbrecht
Farm on
Tuesday, December 5 at 6:00 PM. Pot Luck.

The Regular meeting of the Chickasaw County
Tourism Council met Tuesday, October 17 at Legacy Farm
with 11 members and 2 guests present.
The meeting was called
to order by Vice President Della Reiser at 7:10 PM.
The
Secretary's report was read and approved.
The Treasurer's
report was given and approved. A report on the Tourism
website was given by Sue Bussey.
The minutes of regular
meetings will now be written on this website as
well as the local newspapers. The Tourism website address
is www.chickasawtrails.com.
The
Welcome Center in Nashua is waiting to hear from
FIMA as to the grant situation for a storm shelter.
Karen Wilson
will purchase five 12-pocket brochure racks to
be added throughout the county.
Legislative Night
in Des Moines in February was discussed. Jeaneen Lindeland
and Karen Wilson will be attending
and feature the Bradford Museum this year.
The annual membership
drive was discussed. Letters will be going
out in December.
A 7% hotel motel tax was discussed.
The meeting was
adjourned at 8:00.
The next regular meeting
will be at Twin Ponds
Nature Center on Thursday, November 16,
at 7:00 PM.
